Metal Mutant is a sci-fi action game where you control a single robot. Not one, actually three robots. Actually it's one robot, but also it's three robots. Don't you get it? Ok... so it's one robot, which is able to change to 3 different shapes: humanoid, tank and a dinosaur. This is actually the predecessor of transformers. You move gradually through the different levels, which are very diverse. You start in a swamp and then, if you defeat enough robot enemies, you can go into a modern city and everywhere you need to defeat another kind of robot - mutant. The goal is to destroy the mad computer AROD 7 on planet Kronox, which is a bit crazy and trying to rule the world.

The player controls a super robot that can change its form into 3 different mutations. A humanoid Cyborg, a lizard-like Dinosaur and a tracked Tank, each of the forms having completely different weapons and systems that can be used in different situations. The game even contains some elements of non-linearity, where certain parts can be ed in any order, according to the player's wishes. Metal Mutant contains a total of 4 different levels that bring a change of environment and also new enemies. The game features a large variety of different organic and robotic opponents.

Progress in the game is solved by saving positions in precisely determined places by connecting to a rescue module in the form of a Cyborg. The downside, however, is the fact that the game only has one save slot, and each save overwrites the previous save position with a new one. Another characteristic feature of this game is the exceptionally high difficulty. Although the game includes the possibility of choosing the difficulty level, named Level 1, 2, 3 - which is equivalent to Easy, Medium, Hard - but the choice of Level 1 (that is, Easy) represents a challenge even for experienced players.
