Embark on a journey to the mythical land of Ashtalarea in Knights of Legend, a role-playing adventure that captivates with its depth and complexity. In this 1990 DOS classic, you're tasked with defeating the malevolent sorcerer Pildar, who threatens the realm with his dark ambitions. The game begins with the creation of party characters. For each character, the gender, name, and race (human, elf, dwarf, or keldar) are selected, then the class (tunneler, ratman, trollslayer, conscript, digger, spiderman, orcslayer, or picker) and finally the portrait of the hero character itself. It is even possible to change the colors of the portrait. The default 10 ability statistics are adjusted precisely according to how the player "mixed" the individual characters. The game stands out for its detailed character creation system, offering a variety of races and classes, each with unique abilities and traits. Knights of Legend isn't much of a storytelling RPG, and the entire gameplay is based on exploring the vast plains and cities of Ashtalarey. Conversing with humans and non-humans leads to hundreds of optional generic quests, including those belonging to the main story, leading to the defeat of Pildar. During fights, the player has a lot of maneuvering options and a range of commands for his four charges. This title is probably the most demanding RPG from Origin Systems due to the huge time requirement. An easier quest can take up to 4 hours, a more difficult one even longer. Saving progress can only be done in cities by sleeping in inns.
