Amiga was the starting platform for many young players, and its innovative and iconic games won the hearts of gamers around the world. Thanks to its technical capabilities, such as high-quality graphics and sound at the time, the Amiga became the ideal platform for various genres of games, from arcades and action-adventure to strategy and logic games. Unique titles such as "Lemmings", "The Secret of Monkey Island" or "Turrican" were created on the Amiga and became legends and are still considered jewels of the gaming industry.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s the platform became particularly popular for gaming, demoscene activities and creative software uses. During this time commercial developers marketed a wide range of games and creative software, often developing titles simultaneously for the Atari ST due to the similar hardware architecture. Thousands of games were produced. At the time it was common for games to be produced for multiple formats. Since the Amiga hardware was the most advanced, games were usually developed on an Amiga, and the Amiga version would be the "gold standard" of the bunch.
